These aren't trivia. They're the judgement calls you'll actually face using Claude for real work: long documents, choosing a model, checking what it tells you, and carrying context between chats. Pick the best option for each scenario, and you'll see an explanation after each one.

1. You've pasted Fernway's hybrid-working policy into Claude and asked how many office days a week are expected. It replies confidently, 'two days a week,' and you're about to quote that in a team email. What's the wisest next step? Send the email; Claude read the whole policy, so it must be right. Ask Claude to quote the exact line the figure comes from, then check that line in the original policy. Ask Claude 'are you sure?' and trust it if it says yes. Assume it's wrong and read all several pages yourself instead. 2. You're drafting a quick summary of some notes, then you reach a tricky judgement call buried in them that needs careful reasoning. You're on Claude's fast, everyday model. What's the sensible move? Start a brand-new chat on the most capable model and paste everything again. Switch to the most capable model from the picker and carry on in the same chat; it keeps the context above. Push the fast model harder by repeating the question until it sounds sure. Give up; the fast model can't be changed once a chat has started. 3. A colleague new to Claude asks which plan to buy before they've really used it. They mostly want to summarise documents and draft emails. What's the best advice? Buy the top personal plan straight away so answers are as accurate as possible. Start on the free plan; it's a real working tool, and only pay when a specific limit actually gets in the way. Buy a paid plan so it's safe to paste in confidential company documents. Get a Team or Enterprise plan; those are the only ones that handle long documents. 4. You paste a policy and type at the bottom 'summarise the key points and tell me what I must do', all as one run-on block. The summary is a bit muddled. What's the cleanest fix? Switch tools; Claude struggles with policies. Separate your instruction from the document with a clear label like 'DOCUMENT:' and name the exact format you want, then re-run. Paste only the one paragraph you think matters, to give it less to cope with. Send it several more times unchanged until a tidier answer comes out. 5. You ask Claude to build an action list from the Fernway meeting notes. It appears in a panel to the side of the chat, not in the conversation, and you want to reorder it. What's the best way? Copy the whole thing into the message box, edit it there, and paste it back. Start a new chat and describe the list from memory. Ask Claude to reorder it, or edit it directly in the side panel, where it updates. Leave it; once it's in the panel it can't be changed. 6. You're planning the Fernway office move over several weeks and keep pasting the same lease terms and cost comparison into each new chat. What's the tidier approach? Keep pasting them each time; there's no better way. Put the lease terms and cost comparison into a Project as reference material, so every chat inside it can draw on them. Keep everything in one endless chat and never start a new one. Email the documents to Claude so it remembers them next time. 7. You ask Claude about something that happened last week and its answer seems oddly out of date. What's the most likely reason, and the best response? Claude is broken; switch to a completely different tool. Claude has a knowledge cutoff and may not know very recent events, so use web search if available, open the links to confirm, or check a search engine. Recent events are always blocked for safety. Ask the same question more forcefully until it answers confidently. 8. You've asked Claude 'why is this contract clause illegal?', but you're not actually sure it is. What's the risk, and the better way to ask? No risk; if Claude explains reasons, the clause must be illegal. Claude may go along with your assumption and justify a claim that isn't true; ask neutrally, like 'Is this clause legal, and how would I check?' Claude always refuses legal questions, so there's nothing to worry about. Insist harder until Claude agrees the clause is illegal. 9. You want Claude's help with 'the email Tom sent on Tuesday', but you haven't shown it the email. It gives a generic answer that doesn't fit. Why? Claude can see your inbox but is choosing not to help. Claude only knows what's in the conversation; it can't see your emails, files or calendar unless you paste or attach them. The email is too old for Claude to reach. You need a paid plan for Claude to read your inbox. 10. Claude gives you a beautifully written, confident paragraph with a specific statistic you plan to put in a board report. It wasn't working from any document you provided. What's the wisest step? Use it as-is; the writing is polished and assured, so the figure is sound. Verify the statistic against an independent, trustworthy source before it goes in the report. Ask Claude to make the paragraph sound even more confident. Remove the statistic but keep the surrounding claims, since only numbers can be wrong. Answered 0 of 10.
